Array I got an 88 point ranking for running a relatively slow 2:14 in an olympic distance tri this past year and the 2:07 that I ran in September only netted me a 84.6XXX ranking. This was the only picture I could find…and as we all know, a post with a picture is more interesting to read :) It’s kinda like this, but not really:Pulling out the 2005 rankings edition of Triathlon Life, I ended my 2nd season of triathlon with a 81.6450 and was ranked 173/532 in my age group. Turns out I was the first New Yorker in my age group, so I can say I am number one in my age group in NY right now :) - I like to think of all the positives that can be construed out of this ranking!Well, it wasn’t only me that performed well this past year, there were many many others who got honors from their hard work.

-ne This morning’s PI has an editorial supporting Prop.2, the operations levy for the Seattle School district, Seattle School Levy:Essential Vote. To say that maybe the next list (which would come out in another 6 years) could align with closures and consolidations is a slap in the face of school communities who are going to take it on the chin this fall.Another problem I have with this list is that there are schools on it that have not waited as long as others and/or whose buildings are not the worst ones. The Facilities staff told me, after I showed them a list of schools that had additions/renovations broken out by grade level, that it looked like the district was rebuilding all the high schools and indeed, that’s the plan. Sadly, the building in the worst condition (not just among high schools but the district) is Nova, an alternative high school that sits opposite Garfield (which is in the process of being rebuilt). No one in Facilities or on the academic side can identify who might have made this statement. The two biggest problems on this list are Nathan Hale High School and the New School.Hale, just speaking from an equity view, has a new athletic field (BTA 1) and a new Performing Arts Hall (BEX II). First, New School has not waited as long as other school communties for a renovation. Two, the South Shore building which houses New School is a poor building but not the worst. Additionally, facilities staff, in minutes, state that even if BEx III does not pass, New School could remain in the South Shore building several more years. The only one I can find, from the timeline, is the new memo of understanding signed by the New School foundation and the district. Oddly, despite documents, maps and minutes that identify this project as New School, despite minutes that reflect that the building is being built for the New School’s program, the district is trying to call it a generic term of PreK-8/middle school. You have to wonder why.Four, the district is trying to say that they need to build New School because they need more middle school capacity in the SE. I hope there’s some savings.) However, the South Shore building houses both New School and the Rainier Beach Community Center (the building is jointly owned by the Parks Department and the district and they share many parts of it). Why not wait?Lastly, if New School is built, you will have, in just over a one mile area, 2 K-8s, 2 high schools and 1 elementary school (Dunlap, right in New School’s backyard).

The BlueClaws went 84-55 during the regular season and won the South Atlantic League playoffs behind a rotation led by the organization’s top prospect, righthander Carlos Carrasco, and lefties Josh Outman and Matt Maloney. For a team planning to contend, the Phillies surprisingly added three players in the major league Rule 5 draft at the Winter Meetings. Carlos Carrasco, rhp Born: March 3, 1987 • B-T: R-R • Ht: 6-3 • Wt: 190Background: Signed for 00,000 out of Venezuela in 2003, Carrasco had a successful debut the following year in the Rookie-level Gulf Coast League. Since making strides in grasping English this season, Carrasco has taken to instruction more easily.Strengths: Carrasco has two plus pitches in his arsenal, starting with a consistent 90-92 mph fastball. He arguably commands his changeup better than any of his pitches, but slows down his arm action slightly when he throws it, tipping off hitters. Kyle Drabek, rhp Born: Dec. 8, 1987 • B-T: R-R • Ht: 6-1 • Wt: 180Background: Many clubs thought Drabek had the best pure stuff in the 2006 draft, but huge makeup concerns scared teams away from the son of former Cy Young Award winner Doug Drabek. Adrian Cardenas, ss/2b Born: Oct. 10, 1987 • B-T: L-R • Ht: 5-11 • Wt: 185Background: Cardenas entered last spring as the second-best player on his team–behind eventual Nationals first-rounder Chris Marrero–and as a projected fifth-round pick. 20, 1987 • B-T: R-R • Ht: 6-2 • Wt: 190Background: The Phillies followed Garcia as a 15-year-old in the Dominican in 2004 and signed him for 00,000 just before he planned to attend the Perfect Game/Baseball America World Wood Bat Championship. After rushing Carlos Carrasco, Philadelphia sent Garcia to short-season Batavia at age 18, and he had a successful summer.Strengths: Garcia has excellent life on a 91-92 mph fastball that tops out at 95. After working on the arm speed and command of his changeup, Garcia used it more in 2006 and showed flashes of making it a plus pitch. While his delivery is simple and repeatable, the arm speed on his changeup has to be practically flawless because he doesn’t create a lot of deception. The Future: The Phillies compare Garcia to Carrasco for both his repertoire and his advanced feel for pitching. Scott Mathieson, rhp Born: Feb. 27, 1984 • B-T: R-R • Ht: 6-4 • Wt: 195Background: Mathieson has pitched all over the map in the last two years. He worked at the Futures Game, the World Cup and the Arizona Fall League in 2005, then pitched in the World Baseball Classic and jumped from Double-A to the majors in 2006. 14, 1984 • B-T: L-L • Ht: 6-1 • Wt: 190Background: While at St. Louis Community College-Forest Park, Outman used a delivery developed by his father Fritz that scouts described as one of the strangest they’d ever seen. Lakewood pitching coach Steve Schrenk had him ditch his curveball in favor of a sharp slider that quickly became a plus pitch with excellent tilt and late life. Michael Bourn, of Born: Dec. 27, 1982 • B-T: L-R • Ht: 5-11 • Wt: 180Background: Though the Phillies have seen many of their prospects struggle after skipping a level, Bourn succeeded after skipping high Class A in 2005. Bourn is a plus defender in center field with outstanding range and a strong arm.Weaknesses: He’ll never hit for much power, though Bourn has worked on taking pitches to the opposite field. Happ, lhp Born: Oct. 19, 1982 • B-T: L-L • Ht: 6-5 • Wt: 205Background: The first Northwestern player ever to make the all-Big Ten Conference three times, Happ has had no trouble adjusting to pro ball. Matt Maloney, lhp Born: Jan. 16, 1984 • B-T: L-L • Ht: 6-4 • Wt: 220Background: Maloney was worn out from pitching Mississippi to the NCAA super regionals when he turned pro in 2005, so the Phillies didn’t see him at his best until 2006. His best was very good, as he was named South Atlantic League pitcher of the year after leading the circuit in wins, innings and strikeouts while finishing second in ERA.Strengths: Maloney attacks hitters by throwing four pitches for strikes. 17, 1985 • B-T: R-R • Ht: 6-0 • Wt: 190Background: The Phillies have been patient with Golson since signing him for .475 million as the 21st overall pick in 2004, and it may finally be starting to pay off. Though he repeated low Class A at the start of 2006 and hit just .220, he surged following a promotion to high Class A in late July.Strengths: The best athlete in the 2004 draft, Golson possesses the best speed, center-field skills and outfield arm in the system.

5.I love long, hot showers. Spring is my favorite season, but I love Autumn too. I love watching TLC’s ‘What Not to Wear.’ 12. The best 2 weeks ever- Europe with Corey last year. I am always a little bit afraid when I fly. I love to travel. I love strawberry shortcake (with real whipped cream). I love waking up to Max in the morning. Pillow talk with Corey before we go to bed is the best part of the day. I quit my job 6 months ago to be with Max. I love to tickle Corey (pure glee). I believe Corey and I are an amazing match. I love back rubs and am constantly trying to talk Corey into taking massage therapy classes. I love North Shore Hawaii. I’m at war with Corey’s heater fan. I’m soooo glad Corey doesn’t watch sports. I love fresh fruit. I love shaved ice. I still can’t believe Max was inside of me- amazing. I love to sleep. I love having my hair washed at the salon. I like to watch Max sleep. I love to snuggle up in a soft blanket with a book. Sometimes I can know exactly what Corey is thinking just by looking at him. I love the smell and feel of clean sheets. I lament that my favorite pink heels Corey gave me are worn out. I loved riding in it and talking to Corey. I love almost anything lime. I hate Walmart but love Target. I will eat fast food but don’t like to eat at the fast food joint (except In n’Out).

As of this year, the population is expected to reach approximately 88 million (from 84 million) with about 50 MILLION adults aged 19 and above who are presumably literate (or functionally literate if you prefer).220 plus National Bookstore branches nationwide as against 50 MILLION potential readers? Answer: newsprint products such as newspapers, songhits, betting guides, and tagalog romance pocketbooks. Why newsprint, and not book or glossy paper? When potential readers turn the pages resulting in wear and tear thereby lessening the chances of a sale, this kind of risk is minimized by the lesser cost expended in producing the newsprint product. Besides, the greater majority of newstand readers are more concerned with the ideas, thoughts, messages, or overall intellectual content of the newsprint product rather than something superficial as the kind of paper used, or binding, or whatever outward appearance the product is in. It has to start from there, at the bottom and not at the top–the elite.Since these newsprint products are widely distributed in newstands and street corners in a third world country such as the Philippines, they are commensurately priced according to the greater many’s income capacity, most of whom are lower income.

After receiving 1001 songs, TVE, the Spanish broadcaster, posted up their fifteen potential entries on their website. I like this system and it’s interesting to see how big a part the internet and users from around Europe will play in the selection of the Spanish song.So what are these songs like? Well firstly, I was surprised at how bland a few of the songs were – I thought Spain were trying to win the Eurovision, not take it back to the mid-90s! I was also surprised at how much English appeared in the Spanish songs – they’ve never sung a whole chorus in English and this year could be the first time they’ve done so. Even France has done this incredible feat. For me I would say that Bailame would give Spain their greatest chance as it’s a really good pop song, not too dissimilar from those of Spain’s entries from 2001 and 2004 that both finished in the top 10. I think it’s even better than those though and with a brilliant singer and performance they could get a rather good result. The five songs I would personally like to see qualify to the final five are:14 Bailame12 Tu Voz Se Apagara09 Cuanto Amor Por Ti (although I’m not sure it will, I think this is my own personal taste)11 Ain Veri Jupi Nau15 La Reina De La NocheIt will be very interesting to see which songs make it, and I shall report on it when it happens!

Next time you run into Kelly at a Linfield game be sure to thank the man for his years of dedication to the ‘Cats.———————————————————-(Wildcat11) Thank you very much Kelly for joining us here at the ADvantage Catdome. An SID’s job is never done so we’ll disperse with the small talk and start to fire the questions at you.How has the job changed for you over the years at Linfield? Has technology made the job easier for you or has it increased your workload?(Kelly Bird) When I started at Linfield in 1989, the internet was just a pipe dream and game statistics and records were compiled with pencil and paper. But faxing was still a lengthy process, taking up to an hour after each football game to fax 15 pages of football stats to 10 different outlets.Today, every one of our press boxes has internet capability, making it possible to get the news out nearly instantly after an event concludes. I’m responsible for programming the board, forcing me to learn a whole new skill set.(WC11) Are the student athletes/parents still the same when you first took the job at Linfield or have you noticed a shift in how athletes/parents interact with you since you first started at Linfield?(KB) My first 10 years, I had very little interaction with parents, but today’s electronic world has changed that. And I’d always like to try to improve skills through professional development training, such as advanced classes in Photoshop, or video production.(WC11) Linfield’s athletic site (www.linfield.edu/sports) is a great small college athletic web site. We developed the current look and layout based on what I felt were the needs of both our readers and our programmer (me).Having grown up a Sports Illustrated subscriber, I’ve always enjoyed compelling sports photography and the Linfield athletics site reflects that interest. The Linfield site offers more action photography than just about any Division III site you’ll find, which I think helps set Linfield apart of the rest of the crowd. Can you tell us the gory details of what a typical game day at Linfield is like for you and is there more or less work when Linfield hosts a football playoff game?(KB) Most SIDs, including myself, have eight-day work weeks. Playoff games are even more challenging, due to countless NCAA requirements, such as a special media interview room, special PA announcements, and extra media members cramming into the press box(WC11) In your 18 years of being the SID at Linfield do you a favorite moment or year that still stands out in your mind and why?(KB) No question, I’ve witnessed a LOT of great team and individual performances over that time. the Linfield softball team staving off playoff elimination six times to reach the NCAA finals (2006), Linfield’s men’s basketball rallying from eight points down in the final 30 seconds to win a game in Phoenix in 2000; I mean, is it that you have ideas sitting on the back burner or is it more of a feeling out process of that year’s team?(KB) With 78 pages to fill, producing the football guide each year is akin to running a marathon rather than a sprint. Some wonder why we can’t get the guide published sooner, but I remind them that the Linfield football guide has a full numerical roster that isn’t finalized until about seven days before the first game. I always want to give the people paying for a Linfield football guide their money’s worth. Pulling all the different pieces of the guide together on tight deadlines in August can be pretty nerve-wracking but it’s also very satisfying to see fans enjoying the finished product in the stands before kickoff.(WC11) Have you ever tallied up how many hours it takes to put together one of the football media guides?

(In one of my books, it was said that Hitchcock used 78 cuts in 45 seconds.) It’s as though Hitchcock’s exaggerated use of cutting was an intentional reference to the cutting of poor Mary.In any case, the slow entrance and quick cuts is still a very effective cinematic jolt to an audience. In the December 1, 1959, revised draft by Joseph Stephano, the shower scene is (by today’s standards) ridiculously overwritten. Here’s a portion:The noise of the shower drowns out any sound. Above the shower-bar we see the bathroom door open again and after a moment we HEAR the SOUND of the front door slamming. Here’s my question: using today’s industry standard format, wouldn’t Hitchcock’s famous shower scene be a SERIES OF SHOTS?We know from our good friend, Dave Trottier, that a MONTAGE is a single concept set to music but a SERIES OF SHOTS is an assembly of quick cuts that leads to a heightened dramatic moment. If we’re to rewrite this scene, perhaps it’d look something like this:…she turns her back to the bathroom.A figure quietly enters and walks toward Mary.

Shuttles and taxis wait outside the cruise terminal after the Carnival cruise ship Elation returned to Galveston today. A female passenger was reported missing from the ship.A Houston-area woman reported missing from a Carnival cruise ship was not the victim of foul play or an accidental fall, Houston FBI agents determined today after interviewing the her husband and other passengers. We had agents on the ship and concluded there was no foul play involved, said Agent Luz Garcia, a spokeswoman for the FBI. I cant really go into detail out of respect for the family but our feeling that it was not an accident.” Family members last saw Vonnie Ales, 40, of Simonton, about 6:45 a.m. Friday when she left their cabin after the ship Elation left Belize and steamed toward its home port in Galveston, Carnival spokeswoman Jennifer de la Cruz said. A passenger saw her on an upper deck at about 7:15 a.m. as the ship passed about 30 miles south of the Mexican island of Cozumel, de la Cruz said. The seven-day voyage included stops in Mexico and Belize. Passengers debarking from the Elation at Galveston today said they first learned that Ales was missing Friday morning when an announcement was made over the ships public address system asking her to phone or go to the pursers office. A photo of Ales, who passengers said was traveling with her husband and two teenaged children, was broadcast over the ships televisions. We all looked, said John Besiso, 35, of Katy. His wife, Lisa, 35, said, Everybody was upset and concerned. Later the captain announced that he feared Ales was overboard and that he was turning the ship around to return to the area where she was last seen, passengers said. He was really frantic, recalled passenger Pam Gaspard, 37, of Orange. She said the ship turned around about noon. At about 1 p.m. passengers were asked to go to the rail and look along the deck for Ales and the ship turned around again, Gaspard said. Nothing was found and the ship began to retrace its course toward Cozumel, she said. Passenger Jeff Borencq, 42, of Belton, said the Elation steamed for about six hours before arriving in the area where Ales was last seen on the upper deck. Jeff Boren, 42, of Belton, and other passengers saw two Mexican naval or coast guard vessels and a third, private ship that appeared to be a large freighter, steaming in a search pattern. Gaspard said there was little danger of accidentally falling overboard. It would be very hard to fall off, she said, noting that the railing is chest high.

-ne This poll released yesterday bodes well for internet news and ill for anonymous sourcing. Americans have a more favorable opinion of newspapers than other news media outlets, but slightly less than they did four years ago, according to a new survey by the Pew Research Center for the People and the Press. “Those who expressed favorable opinions of daily newspapers, local TV news, network news and cable news struck similar themes in explaining their positive views of these news outlets,” the report stated…. The survey was conducted between June 8 and June 12, with 1,464 people responding to the questionnaire, the survey reported. In another key finding, respondents indicated that they still go to newspapers for news more than the Internet. Forty-four percent of those surveyed said newspapers remained their main source of news, compared to 24% who said the Internet.

I can if I wish arrange to be in the company of people of my race most of the time.2. I can turn on the television or open to the front page of the paper and see people of my race widely represented.7. I can go into a music shop and count on finding the music of my race represented, into a supermarket and find the staple foods which fit with my cultural traditions, into a hairdresser’s shop and find someone who can cut my hair.13. I am never asked to speak for all the people of my racial group.22. I can be pretty sure that if I ask to talk to the person in charge, I will be facing a person of my race.25. I can be pretty sure that an argument with a colleague of another race is more likely to jeopardize her/his chances for advancement than to jeopardize mine.29. I can be pretty sure that if I argue for the promotion of a person of another race, or a program centering on race, this is not likely to cost me heavily within my present setting, even if my colleagues disagree with me.30. If I declare there is a racial issue at hand, or there isn’t a racial issue at hand, my race will lend me more credibility for either position than a person of color will have.31. I can be pretty sure of finding people who would be willing to talk with me and advise me about my next steps, professionally.38. I can think over many options, social, political, imaginative or professional, without asking whether a person of my race would be accepted or allowed to do what I want to do.39. I can choose public accommodation without fearing that people of my race cannot get in or will be mistreated in the places I have chosen.41. I can be sure that if I need legal or medical help, my race will not work against me.42. If I have low credibility as a leader I can be sure that my race is not the problem.44.

It all started…well, it actually started Tuesday morning when I frantically threw things together in preparation for the hectic departure I knew would ensue following my less-than-rushed ride home (my driver likes to take it easy). It was only the beginning… So, we headed to Koriyama, and got a quick dinner before heading back out into the frigid air (yes, in May) to find our bus. Our flight was scheduled to leave at 8:30, so we left in plenty of time to get lost a couple of times. We went to the train station and were informed, by an attendant who dropped the directions he so painstakingly sketched out for us, that we needed to head to the subway station. We got to the airport in plenty of time to get thoroughly confused by the high-end technology required for printing our tickets (all in Japanese) and still get on the plane in time (which in Japan doesn’t start boarding until 10 or even 5 minutes before scheduled departure time…weird). We realized very quickly that people in Kyushu (the island) are a lot more relaxed than people in Honshu (the island where we live), especially when our bags took their good old time coming down the conveyer belt. So we waited our turn to change our ticket times. For the train at the new time. “Maybe it’s just because it’s spring here.” “No, it’s more than that.” Then it clicked for both of us at the same time. We arrived in Nagasaki at around 1:30ish, and after freshening up a bit and stowing our bags in lockers, headed for a quick lunch and then off for our full day of sight-seeing. A couple things that stood out to me were a pile of coins that had melted together from the heat of the blast, shadows of leaves left on buildings (the walls were charred, but the leaves left a space not as black), stories of mothers with their children, pictures of charred, blistering bodies, clocks– broken from the blast and stopped at the exact same time: 11:02. We strolled down the main isle, Adriane bought a shirt, (which, by the way, is wicked cute), and headed in what we thought was the direction of the Dutch area of town and the oldest Christian church in Japan. So, by this time starving, we turned around and headed for some caloric nourishment. By this time we were nearly famished, so we headed back to the station to retrieve our bags (we still didn’t know where our hotel was), and get some food. After retrieving our bags and realizing that our hotel was, in fact, right next to the place we had just been wandering for 2 hours, we headed back there by street car, joyful for a clean beds and rooms that didn’t smell like smoke (this hotel was part of our package…for that reason, it was probably the nicest one I’ll ever stay in while I’m in Japan = ). No, maybe more like “panic.” This wasn’t like the train from Fukuoka. This was a bus that only ran about every hour, was probably full during every time slot, and was taking us to a friend on the other end, whose phone number we had absentmindedly forgotten to ask for. Praise God (truly), we made the streetcar just in time to get to the station at 8:35, but we didn’t know where to go. Believe it or not, it’s the first time I’ve actually seen the ocean in Japan (except from the bus). For the rest of the afternoon we yukuri shimashita (literally “did slowly”, but it’s something like “took it easy.” That is, if I wrote it correctly…) In the evening, as the sun was setting, we headed back to the beach to a beautiful sea-side restaurant with walls of windows facing the ocean and mountains as the sun went down. After dinner we headed up into the mountains, to a nearby town called Yufuin, to stay the night at Keiko’s boss’ summer guest house. Nonetheless, it was beautiful, and we got to enjoy watching remote control planes and a man hand gliding while we were there…on top of taking pictures that looked like we were falling off the side, and in the process, getting my feet utterly filthy. = ) Then, after grabbing some ice cream on the way back to the car, we headed to Aso itself, and there we went up by ropeway to the top to see the volcano itself. (in food and other things) = ) After dinner we headed back to the house and stayed up late chatting. Poor Keiko (a doctor who works with elderly patients) had to get up early to go to work the next day, but the rest of us slept in and had a lazy morning before heading off to the actual town of Yufuin for some shopping. It looked like really runny concrete, and it gurgled and bubbled like a cauldron. After our other-worldly experience we headed back to reality – otherwise known as KFC, and filled ourselves with our last American food before going “home.” Keiko tried a twister for the first time, and we all enjoyed the non-chicken chicken a great deal. Normally not a big deal, but we were pressed for time to get the last shinkansen that would get us to Koriyama in time for the last train to Funehiki. Anyway, that left us about an hour to get our bags from baggage claim, go through the checkpoint, buy tickets, take the monorail (transportation number 7) to the main Tokyo railway line, change trains, take the railway to Tokyo station, buy shinkansen tickets, and get on the shinkansen (transportation mode number 8). Though I enjoyed it all immensely, I think the best part of the trip was getting to spend time with Keiko. I meant to say 20,000 yen.Tammy (talking about how her cousin feels about his new girlfriend): “He thinks she’s the one, but I’ve heard that before.”Adriane: “That sounds like a country song.”“My English is suck.” Keiko.

The original Spoleto Festival (called Festival dei Due Mondi) was established in 1958 in the small Umbrian hill town of Spoleto Italy. But to call Savion Glover a tap dancer is like calling Picasso a painter.Savion Glover has done what every successful artist needs to do…and what every successful marketer MUST do…find his own bark.If you see Savion Glover, you will see someone who does things that no one else can do.If you buy my product or service, you will get something you can get nowhere else.THAT’S the challenge for us marketers. So, Martine is looking for stationery that reflects her own special identity. She’ll find it among a much more discreet array of purveyors AND within her own soul. And that is where we must find that special sweet spot for our clients. The legendary Ray Kroc said that if two people have the same opinion, one of them is extraneous.Absent finding one’s own bark, a product or service is condemned to the becoming a commodity.

Array-ne I know you were all wondering, as was I, where agent April Enus gained her obvious skill in kissing, as chronicled in Transistor Ni Venus. All the other agents say so, and one by one, all the pretty girls leave her and kiss other agents, ’cause she sucks at it.Luckily for Enus, she is given the task of minding a powerful seer, Atakui. Now she is not only a good kisser - she is the BEST kisser in the universe! There was some spy stuff happening too, but no one was paying attention. ;-)Ratings:Art - 8Characters - 9Story - 8Yuri - 9Overall - 9Transistor ni Venus is a ridiculous, silly piece of fluff, but it never fails to make me smile.P.S.

It is said the senior police officer even said instructions were for him to make sure the cottage was demolished because if not, he would lose his job.Never in a million years can government build such a beautiful house for anyone. We are told if we don’t comply, a heavy charge will be levied upon us for every month the rubble remains visible. The cottage was built about six years ago. This was after a plan, drawn by an architect who has been drawing building plans for many years and is very well-known to the City Council, was submitted for approval. After being told there was a backlog in building plans approval, we were told to go ahead and build. A builder, also well-known to the City Council and his team built the cottage. The City Council Building Inspectorate inspected the building from foundation to completion. We never got the approved plan - hence the regularized plan, which the City Council accepted and charged us nearly million for.The bulldozing of our cottage happened while I was walking home from town after failing to get transport due to the severe fuel shortage. How do we build an economy when we, the ordinary people, work so hard to build and those in power work tirelessly to destroy what we build?

In 1983 we moved back in for six months, before selling up and shifting to Australia.Anyway, ten minutes ago I happened to be browsing UK real estate - something I do perhaps once every couple of years, purely for nostalgic reasons - when I spotted our old house on the market:An interesting fact: Before my parents bought this house it belonged to an english actress who - I believe - appeared in one of the early Bond movies. They speak English but the architecture and weather is mediterranean.I only hope my kids are storing their own special memories of our current house.Back to West Wickham: at UKP679,000 (Approx A.6m or US.26m), the old house is selling for almost ten times the price we sold it for in ‘83, and exactly 68 times what my parents paid for it in 1969/70.Update: Found some old pics my parents took in the early 70’s:This one is July 1971, 12 months after moving in.Same day, right hand side of the house.

Well it’s been a while and definitely a long time since the last promised update in rankings. Most of you already know the major changes that have taken place since the last ranking came out. Just for a brief overview of the two biggest happenings…- John McCain had a major meltdown in his campaign when three top campaign leaders, including the Campaign Manager and the Lead Strategist resigned from the campaign.- Jim Gilmore dropped out of the race and no one has really missed him.Now for the good stuff…Republican Presidential Candidate Rankings as of August 7, 2008 (Pre-Ames Straw Poll)1. Mitt RomneyWell Mitt’s use of the almighty dollar puts him at the front of the pack in Iowa and for that case in the race itself. Romney has made sure he is not unknown going into the straw poll. But is Mitt really how Iowa wants? Polls have shown that Romney’s message has just not spoke loudly in Iowa. Not nearly as much as his name and face. Lets face the facts, Mitt Romney cleans up well and is an extremely good public speaker and puts out a great image on television looking like a family man who is just another average American, the only part of that, that will come back to bit him is in the Straw Poll and Caucus the voters get to see the candidates in real life and in real life Mitt does not come off anywhere as good as he does on television. Money and popularity have gotten Romney to the top spot, but it is not likely that he will take Iowa just to the fact that Iowans have through out history filtered the phonies out of the race. And that’s all Romney is. A pretty talking head phony.2. Mike HuckabeeMike Huckabee has been on an unbelievable tear as of late. It looked as if he was about to take a big hit after the second quarter fundraising figures came out. Huckabee had finished in the bottom 3 of Republicans and it looked like his campaign was about to go into panic mode. However Mike had different plans. Just as the name of his latest book, his campaign has risen From Hope to Higher Ground. After the ABC News debate from Iowa it seems as if Huckabee has an excellent chance at not only placing highly at the straw poll, but even winning the poll in Ames. During the Iowa/ABC News Debate Dr. Frank Luntz (one of the nations top political pollsters) used the new real-time dial technology that let’s voters give an immediate feedback to what they think about what the candidate is saying. Dr. Luntz said that Huckabee’s numbers went through the roof when attacked the Suadi royal family and their involvement and funding of terrorism with money coming from US oil revenue and that America needs to be independent on energy within 10 years.
